The F4 comes with OwnCal for total calorie expenditure details throughout an exercise session. It is also able to display your heart rate in % of max so that you can see what heart rate zone you are working in (rather than having to work out the zone yourself). It is also waterproof up to 50 metres so you can use it for swimming.

I’ve never been one for exercise but when my wife gave me the polar F4 for Christmas I took it as a hint that I ought to take better care of myself. I can’t believe how intuative and helpful the OwnCal and target zone features are. I didn’t think it was possible to gain without pain, but you really can.

If you only want a basic view of your heart rate and to also keep track of your calorie expenditure, then the F4 will be a good choice. However we believe that for the little extra, it is well worth going for the F6 (our best seller).
